I've been able to successfully setup an alert based on the MOS values, but this alerts on individual operation scores and I end up with a flood. Is it possible to create an alert based on the SITE score as seen on the "VoIP Sites Overview" resource?
Impaler, this is not possible in the product today, but I have logged it as a feature request. Just so I'm clear, you want to be alerted on the average MOS score for the operations running at that site, correct? The value we currently display for the site is the average of the operations running on that device.
Thanks!
Craig
Correct.
This is a real problem. Every time a site drops below the threshold we get pounded with emails and pages. I have to think that this would be a requirement for everyone else running the IP SLA product as well. Is there possibly some kind of workaround? Is there some kind of customization in the custom alerts that I'm just not seeing to overcome this limitation?
A workaround would be suppressing the other operation alerts. For example, you have an alert for each operation on the device; suppress the other alerts when one fires.
HTH,
Right - I figured that.
I have ~10 ops running on each router at each location to cover the whole mesh and all of the carriers. Throughout the day, many of them occasionally pop below the threshold, which really has no impact on the average MOS for that site, so there's no need to ever be alerted on any one individual op. It's when several of them at one site and/or a corresponding site are in violation, driving down the average that I need to be alerted.
Understood. So the aggregate score for the site is important, but any individual score contributing to that average is not important to you. Definitely a feature request; I've logged it. Thanks for the feedback!
