We are looking at using this to give us the functionality of setting up on call groups. Has anyone used this and are you satisfied?
Assuming you looked at Alert Central? This was the exact use case we were trying to address there. If you're using Email->SMS gateway anyway and don't need a serial modem dialer, then you would be able to use AC instead of Notepage. AC has far more features.
What features of Notepage are you looking at that are not inherent in alert manager?
The functionality I need is to be able to send email to sms or direct sms to cells based on an on call schedule, which I can not do with the advance alert manager on NPM/SAM. I.E. when the alert triggers if it is 10-1 through 10-7 email Person A or sms to Cell A or if it is 10-8 through 10-14 email Person B or sms to Cell B and so forth
To be honest, I had not really looked at Alert Central since we already had a central system that was meeting our needs. But this is a deal maker. I will download it and give it a whirl. Thaks
Alert Central has tons of potential. I wish development was a bit faster. It does have the SMS gateway mechanism, and there's been some talk of something more sophisticated in the future, like push notifications. I really like the idea of feeding all alert sources into one place, where it's accessible by others, rather maintaining separate notification procedures for each.
I have PageGate running on our NPM server, using a cellular modem. We like being able to get alerts out when the network is down, but with the level of redundancy we have built into our network now that's a very rare occurrence. Also, I've found sharing the PageGate connection with other machines next to impossible unless you're a Windows shop.
