Alert question: Help with HTTPS url output

How can I add a variable to my alert so that it is HTTPS:// instead of HTTP://

This is what I am using View full object details here: ${N=SwisEntity;M=DetailsUrl}

This is the what is in the email body of my alert : View full object details here: BEDSWNDS01:80/.../View.aspx I need this url to be https.

I have been racking my brain to try and figure this out. I have made sure that SSL is enabled and that port 443 is specified in the database manager. I have double checked my IIS settings and set them up appropriately. When anyone logs into Solarwinds we have to use our windows passwords for authentication (which is what we want).

However, whenever alerts are set up, they come through showing exactly how you reference, showing: http://<servername>:80/orion....

I am guessing that until I can find an answer to this, I can't link link any details in the Alert email...which is a pain.

Thanks for the link - but yes...that was the first thing that I did *sad trombone*....I even bounced the Orion server just to make sure.

Not a fix, but here's a work-around to keep you afloat.

Just enter your URL manually and then add the objectID variable to the end. This is a common way that we provide links to SolarWinds based on DNS instead of server name. (PLEASE VOTE UP!!!

For a node, it would look something like this:

https://orion.YOURDOMAIN.com/Orion/NetPerfMon/NodeDetails.aspx?NetObject=N:${N=SwisEntity;M=Node.NodeID}

and the result:

Note that both my DetailsURL and work-around provided the HTTPS link for my lab. Since you've already gone through the KB that RichardLetts‌ referenced, I would open a ticket with SolarWinds to verify there's not an issue with your environment somehow.

Additionally, the variable needs to change based on the object you are alerting on, but the basic concept is the same.

For instance, if you want to provide a link to the node, but you are alerting on an interface, it would look more like this:

Thanks for the help I have opened a ticket with support and it is a issue with how the environment has been configured along with a bug with Solarwinds.

Thanks for that! I'm definitely marking that one for later. I actually worked with Brian (from Loop1) today and we figured out what the problem was. We have an old test DB on our Solarwinds DB server, and I made a change to the wrong DB. Once I made the change to the correct DB (for port 443 and SSLenabled) the links started showing correctly.

Any word on when there will be a fix? We also switched to https and I have been trying to update SW email contents.

The information in the link to the KnowledgeBase as provided by Richard Letts has helped, except the emails still have port 80 instead of port 443.
