I am a relative newbie to Solarwinds. Does anyone know how to set up alerts where it would go off if a node is down 5 minutes during the day, then 15 minutes during the night? Any help or insight would be welcomed!
How I would do it: 2 separate alerts setup. One for your Day and one for night.
Under trigger condition you set the "Condition must exsist for more then x"
Under time of Day tab you specify the schedule for that alert

yes, from what I understand, the alert is triggered when a node is down for 5 minutes.
Ok, I actually discovered a bit easier of a way. you will want to go into the trigegr actions tab of the alert and do the following.
Set the schedule for send email under trigger action. Make this your during the day schedule.
Add a escalation level. Set to wait 10 minutes.
Add the Send email to this level but with your night schedule set.
* You can copy your day time email, and then drag and drop it to the escalation level. The important part is setting the schedule for each part so you wont get duplicate emails.
