Hi I'm looking to see if anyone has any custom scripts or work arounds to increase username and password security on SW Orion.

Ideally we are looking for integration with radius or Tacacs but I know the standard version of Orion doesn't allow this and there is no plans for it in the future. Would anyone out there have devised any work around so that we can tie the login to an authentication server?

Don't know of anything besides AD user accounts. Where I work we would love to authenticate users via tacacs or radius. Most network shops use tacacs and radius so they could leverage that resource and really simplify account and password maintenance. I had hoped SW would include this soon...

I'm not trying to smart or anything I am genuinely curious. You say it's on the "road map". Does this mean in the near future or is it a plan for something Orion would eventually have.

The reason I raised this post was because of the reply I got when I submitted a ticket told me to raise the topic here to find a work around.

Like I said I'm not trying to be snotty or anything I'm just a little confused about the whole situation.

The reply was sent to me on the 22nd August 2008 and is qouted below.

Thank you for contacting SolarWinds. Currently development has no plans to intergrate the username and password for the website with TACACS or any other authenication process like the user information in Active Directory for example. I would recommend raising this question on www.thwack.com to see if any other users have created a custom script that would enhance the security of the login process for Orion.
