Port Monitoring

Question

How can I monitor ports?  For example, how do I make sure the host is responding on HTTP port 80?  I know I can monitor the IIS service, but that service can hang and still be running.

Port monitoring is going to be part of our new and improved application monitoring module, which is not that far in the future, but we don't have a clear date yet.

Can you give me a couple of examples of what you want on the post-to-a-web-page action?

I wouldn't expect this to be rolled in until v9 or later but then again I'm no SolarWinds employee. You could always get a little creative and write some custom code.
