v4 Admin Guide

Question

I've finally got some time to look at the new features of v4 after having it installed since Jan but can't find any info on how the new user access works, because currently its using the device login and I want to change it to a per user login.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in the docs or how tthis can be achieved?

Right, here are the authentication options for Cirrus:

1) Use local accounts on the server.   This will allow you to authenticate to the Windows machine with a domain user account and then use a different local account to authenticate into Cirrus.   You would use this configuration if all your users shared the same login to the machine, but you wanted them to have different logins to Cirrus for auditing.

2) Use domain accounts.   Using this option, Cirrus will not provide an additional authentication dialog.   When you login to the machine using a domain user account, Cirrus will verify that the domain user account is logged in and exists within Cirrus. It doesn't forward authentication requests to AD - it trusts the machine authentication to AD.

I've removed the account and added my own account and still logged into the server with the other account, it's now telling me my account details are incorrect and I don't have the required permissions to login. I picked up my account from the domain user list and gave it admin rights.

Jon, sorry to jump in here, but that's behaving by design.  If you already logged into the account on the server, Cirrus will not prompt you again for authentication.   Can you try removing that account from Cirrus and adding a different account to see if that has the desired behavior?
