Is there anyone still running v7.x.x and are waiting for improvements to v8 before they upgrade?

What impreovments are you looking for?

I'm interested to see if I'm the only one waiting for improvements to v8 before I upgrade.
I'm waiting for improvements to the MIB poller when it can poll tables I'll upgrade.

I was waiting for the bugs to be worked out but I upgraded because I was having issues with my polling engine stopping.

I guess I was taxing it to much because upgrading to v8 didn't make a difference.

I'm pretty happy with v8 actually. They need to work on the MIB poller some more but it's pretty nice.

We're still holding at 7.8.5. While I am concerned about the advanced alerting engine and custom mib polling, the biggest thing that bothers me is the lack of confidence in the stability of the 8.x product in general. It just seems to me that there are too many bugs left to shake out. If the 8.1 release lives up to the expectations, this will probably be when we make the move.

I could not wait. I upgraded my 4 remote pollers and NPM server to 8.0 and I've been keeping up with the patches. I needed custom mib support so that's why I upgraded.

I'm not sure what the stability issues you are seeing but my system is running well. The advance alerting is a pain because it doesn't support alot of variables but we just kept the basic alerts running.

Still running V7.8.2 - waiting for the bugs to be flattened in V8.
I'd much rather have a stable product than new buggy features....

Perhaps when 8.1 rolls out I'll build a new server & dedicated DB server.

That sums up my thoughts, as well. I have absolutely no confidence in the advanced alerting engine. It fails to send some triggers, fails to send some trigger resets. It's completely unreliable. I also suffer problems with the custom mib polling, which was my biggest interest in upgrading. I'd like nothing more than to take all the SNMP-monitorable items in my datacenter such as environment, humidity, and temperature readings and make them accessible via Orion status pages.

I'm currently monitoring our server room's temperature and humidity via two custom mib pollers and it's working fine --- granted, these are the only two mib pollers I have at the moment.
