custom reports

Question

Hi

I have been asked to see if it is possible to create custom reports to see if someone logs on to a router/switch and also if the configuration changes on an interface. Our NCM monitors 450 Cisco Devices and we would to be able to be notified as quickly as possible.

I am still new to all this and have looked through the report examples and cannot see if there is one.

Any help will be appreciated

We also have both NPM and NCM.  I have all of our network devices send their logs to my NPM system and have alerts setup for any time a configuration change is made.

I don't currently have a report setup for those logs that I run each week or month but doing something like that would be really easy to do.

There is also an option to have the configuration change logs make NCM immediately make a backup of the network device configuration as a response to the alert, doing this is covered in the NCM manual.  See the section on Configuring Realtime Configuration Change Detection.

You should be able to have the Cisco devices send all logs to the Syslog facility on your system.  One of these log types should be login and configuration changes.  Once you have these you can both alert on them real time as well as run reports against them.

Are you working with just NCM or do you also have NPM?
