Does Solarwinds support SCOM Cluster

Question

Hi,

I am integrating Solarwinds IPSLA and VM monitor with SCOM 2007 R2. I have two questions :-

1) I have Orion Network Management Pack and connector (V.1.1.1). Does it support Clustered RMS? I have referred to various blogs and I found that it doesn't support clustered RMS. If it doesn't is there any other way that I could configure it?

2) On stand alone RMS I have configured the Orion connector and it discovers 14700 (Network Interfaces) and 494 (Network Nodes) but all of them are grayed out. Though they are grayed SCOM is monitoring those devices and alerting. Any reason why they remain grayed?

Unfortunately no, the interface doesn't have the ability to do that.  It's going to show you the devices, then it'll show you the alerts that trigger based off of what is seen on the Orion website.  That's the extent of the Management packs functionality I'm afraid.

Is there a way by which I could follow any one of the below solution?

1) If Solarwind has capability to trigger all the monitor alert in event log. We could Use SCOM to monitor those events.

2) If Solarwind can write the alerts to some file. We could use SCOM to read that log file.

3) If Solarwind can trigger SNMP traps. We could use SCOM to capture those.

4) If Solarwind has an feature of executing any script or managed code to get the alert information and write on to a log file. We could use SCOM to read the log file.

SCOM still does not support clusters that I have read.  Most the times if the element is greyed out it might be something to do with the connection using port 17777 or the credentials you used when configuring the management pack.
