Problem installing Orion Local Help

Question

What am I missing here?

I extracted the local help files into the: C:\inetpub\SolarWinds

which created a directory structure of: C:\inetpub\SolarWinds\OrionLocalHelp

The Help server url is: http://server/OrionLocalHelp

But when I browse to it I get:

Server Error in Application "SOLARWINDS NETPERFMON"

Internet Information Services 7.0

Error SummaryHTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden

The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.

Requested URLserver:80/.../Physical PathC:\InetPub\SolarWinds\OrionLocalHelp\NPMV6\help\Logon MethodAnonymousLogon UserAnonymous

I followed these instructions.

Installing Local Help for your Orion Web Console

1. Unzip the contents of this zip file to c:\inetpub\solarwinds\LocalHelp.

2. Update the Orion Web Console Help File location:

a. Click Admin in the Web Console toolbar, and then click Orion Settings the left navigation pane. 
 b. In the Help Server field, enter the location where you unzip this file. For example: type http://yourOrionIISServer/LocalHelp, where yourOrionIISServer is the netbios name or the IP address of your Orion Web Console server.

Notes: 
 1. This zip contains a number of folders that need to exist in the IIS server location you specify
 2. The win32 UI, System Manager, does not call the new help location specified in the Web Console.

I also tried copying the the folder to \server\inetpub\wwwroot\OrionLocalHelp

According to the instructions about, you unzip the OrionLocalHelp.zip to c:\inetpub\solarwinds\LocalHelp

Which I did.  It creates a directory inside c:\inetpub\solarwinds\LocalHelp called

OrionLocalHelp

So the directory structure is now c:\inetpub\solarwinds\LocalHelp\OrionLocalHelp

I have tried for the help server URL setting

http://server/LocalHelp/OrionLocalHelp
and
http://10.5.40.134/LocalHelp

Still throws the same error.

this is a permissions issue within the web server.  there is no "default" page to load in that directory, but there are files.  The web server is configured to not allow a listing of files in the absence of default web page.

to test, open

http://server/OrionLocalHelp/<file#1>

google how to change your web server settings to allow a directory listing for that directory...

It looks like you have introduced an extra directory layer.

If you want the Help Server URL to be http://server/OrionLocalHelp, can you confirm that you have extracted the OrionLocalHelp folder to \server\Inetpub\wwwroot\?

Alternatively, if you want the Help Server URL to be http://server, you should copy all files in the extracted OrionLocalHelp folder into the \server\Inetpub\wwwroot\ folder.
