Is there any way to speed up the process for Patch Manager to publish 3rd Party patches to WSUS? What takes so long for this process and are there any logging options to see where the delay is?
I'm assuming that you are talking about after they are approved? If so, you can manually run the synchronize server, on your main wsus sever, then after that is done, do the same on the relay servers. That will force the servers to see all the new approvals, and the end user can run windows update to get it after that. Or you can just wait until it automatically does it in the middle of the night.
No this screen after the download of patch and you click next, this takes awhile. If you have a bunch of patches to publish, all of this waiting adds up. I've seen this screen last a good 5 to 10 minutes at a time for certain things.
Sorry, can't tell you why that happens, it certainly doesn't take more than 10-30 seconds for me to publish 3rd party packages.
Start in PAS by doing this:
Patch Manager Diagnostics (Full) - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support
Then in WSUS or SUP:
Log Files for Software Updates
