Hi,
Is it possible to stop Orion from generating the default events such as Node Up / Down, Node Changed, etc.?

Go to the alerts menu in Orion System manager, select alerts or advanced alerts and you should see the options to allow you to suppress or activate an alert type.
Thanks for the reply, if I understand you correctly; that will allow you to configure some alerts but not the built-in alerts such as changes to a node, etc.
I do not think you can disable them, nevertheless you can filter them out. See the following thread.
Here are the Orion NPM Event Type you could filter with the method describe in the above thread.
Each Orion module adds its own list of Events to this one.
