Virtualization info not correct

I've just upgraded our NPM installation to 10.1.1. Upgrade went pretty smoothly, and in particular I like the new Virtualization tab, which directly supports our vSphere 4.1 cluster, but I have a couple of questions regarding this.

1. We obviously have a vCenter server, but NPM reports the Number of Virtual Centers as 0, likewise it reports the number of Number of Clusters as 0. Is there anything I have to specifically do to get NPM to report the correct stats?

2. Also in the Virtualization summary page, NPM shows all the Top 10 Hosts by Network Utilization as 'N/A', yet if I open the stats for an individual vSphere host, it shows the Current Percent Utilization of Each Interface correctly.

All our ESX servers are set to 'Poll for ESX', and the info is being gathered correctly from what I can tell.

With 10.1 we can poll via vCenter directly now instead of going to each ESX host itself. If you add the vCenter server, what happens? Check out this blog for more info on how it should look

Thanks for the info.

I've now managed to get the vCenter server to be detected correctly, and I can now see the cluster information. The Top 10 Hosts by Network Utilization still all show N/A though, so not sure what's going on there. It also appears if the Windows server running vCenter is detected as a vCenter, you cannot also manage it as a Windows server. is this right? I certainly don't show all the normal disk/volume/host information.

To get interface information from the ESX hosts, we currently leverage SNMP for this. So you will have to setup SNMP on the ESX boxes.

On the vCenter server itself, if when you edit it in web node management and add SNMP credentials we can gather that other data you are looking for off the vCenter box as well.
