VMWare ESX Server 3.x
FormerMember
hello -
I'm trying to get orion V8.0.112 to run in a Windows 2003 Standard instance on VMware ESX Server 3.x.
Is VMWare ESX a supported platform for running Orion?

I am running orion 8.0 on a VM ESX server with Windows 2003 Enterprise. No problems, whether solarwinds will support it is another question but they don't have to know.

I run it on ESX too, with no problems.

VMware on 2003 Standard here as well with no issues.

I am running Orion on a VM Server and I find that we have a lot of CPU issues. We are using a back end physical SQL box so SQL isn't the problem. The VM just can't seem to handle the resource demand of Orion, Cirrus and the Toolset all on one box. I am pushing for a physical box something this year.

I run Orion and Cirrus on one VM and PRTG on the other, both on the same box. Using a quad cpu Proliant ML570 with 6GB ram and the main box has SQL on it as well. I haven't seen any issues yet with performance.
