NCM- How to change Machine type in NCM ?

- How to change Machine type in NCM ?

We have recently upgraded our cisco catalyst switch 3750 stack to 9300- 48U but the machine type is not updated in solarwinds NCM.

Tried rediscovering.

Kindly suggest.

I've discovered that Solarwinds doesn't do a perfect job rediscovering the characteristics of a new node when it replaces an old node and when it uses the old node's management IP address. The most complete solution is to delete the old node entirely and re-add the new node using the old node's IP address. That way NPM and NCM will properly register the kind of device it is. This will also prevent the Solarwinds SQL database from becoming filled with "unknown interfaces" associated with the old node, which are not present on the new node.

Try a re-inventory of the node + look at the attache device template.
NCM updates it tables then.
