Any other suggestions?
Have you tried rebooting the server where Patch Manager is installed? Are you able to push any existing packages to an existing client?
last night and this morning the sync was successful. No reboots were performed on the server over the weekend, very strange.
Is this site being updated? No updates since 6/28/16. Looking for Mozilla Firefox 47.0.1
Thanks.
Last update for third party patches was on 28 June 2016. Can we get a current update as we just received a notification for updates needed for Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player.
Thank you.
The SolarWinds Update Catalog is showing Adobe Flash Player 22.0.0.209 ActiveX as the latest version, but it should be 22.0.0.210. When will the catalog be updated?
Yeah, and a new FileZilla client was released on 6/27/16 and it still hasn't been updated in the catalog.
I am getting a checksum error when attempting to use the downloaded file from Adobe. Obviously this is due to PM expecting 22.0.0.209 and I have 22.0.0.210 (according to website and details of the actual file). In addition, the file properties indicate that it was created on the 12th....a day before the catalog update. Normally I wouldn't be this picky, but according to Vulnerability Summary for the Week of July 11, 2016 and it shows 16 vulnerabilities that rate a 10. This means "FIX ME NOW!"
So, how about updating the catalog with a new/proper checksum for 22.0.0.210 Active X.
You can import Adobe's catalog for SCUP for use in PM in the meantime: Adobe - Player Licensing : Distribution Strategies
Alas, if we only ran SCUP. We just have WSUS and unless these catalogs can be imported into that, I am SOL until Solarwinds updates their catalog.
looking for the latest Java and Adobe Flash player....Any word on when we'll get the updates??
And FileZilla and Google Chrome and the new Apple iTunes. :-(
The silence is deafening.
Is there an update to when SolarWinds will release the Google Chrome updates that have been released?
Ok, so there are several applications that need to be updated. Google Chrome, Apple iTunes, Java. No updates for almost 2 weeks. We need someone from SolarWinds to address this soon. If not, I will have to resort to manually pushing this and that is a lot of work. Please respond soon.
Thanx!
Hey guys! Sorry for making you all wait so long for updates to the catalog. We are currently transitioning this work to a new team which has resulted in delays. Rest assured that this is temporary and we will be back to our normal cadence very soon. Today we published Adobe Flash and are continuing to work on the others on our radar.... Java, Chrome, Filezilla, and iTunes. Stay tuned and thank you for your patience!!
Thank you for the update...transitions can be difficult.
BTW, anyway SolarWinds can differentiate the Adobe Acrobat DC updates between the Classic and Continuous tracks? Very confusing when trying to update this new version of Adobe. Unfortunately, we have some of both and the SW catalog just describes it as Adobe Acrobat DC..I had to go to Adobe's site to see the latest versions for both tracks to see why the PM push was failing.
Thanx for all you do!
Thanks for the feedback, Wayne! I can see how this would be quite confusing. Let me talk to the team about this.
We just bought Patch Manager last week so it's a little disconcerting that updates aren't available several days after they were released. Currently waiting for
Google Chrome Version 52.0.2743.82 m
Java Version 8 Update 101/102
Hi James! I completely understand your frustration. As I mentioned in an earlier post, this is only a temporary delay and soon we will be running at full speed soon!
Will there be new 7-Zip packages in PM? The only version I see available is 9.20.
Any reason why the "Java Runtime Environment 8u101 (x86)Upgrade)" package is looking for v8.0.920.14 under the Installed Rule while the other 5 packages for JRE 8u101 are looking for v8.0.1010.13? I normally duplicate the packages and then customize them to uninstall previous versions of JRE we have running here so that's why I noticed the discrepancy. I changed mine to 8.0.1010.13 to match all the rest of the packages.
DONE! Thanks for your patience!
7-Zip isn't a provided package from SolarWinds; perhaps someone in your org made that 9.20 package as a custom package at some point?
7-Zip was provided at one point like unofficially. I basically copied the package and inserted the newer version and it works great to update 7zip.
Lawrence Garvin Nov 6, 2013 7:39 PM (in response to jbaits)
Just to clarify, in November, 2012, we researched the possibility of including 7-Zip in the catalog, but at that time we found that the binaries for 7-Zip were not digitally signed, and opted to not include them in the catalog out of concern that the lack of digital signing would cause additional confusion. (At the time Patch Manager also had internal issues with unsigned binaries, which has since been resolved in v1.85.)
In response to the situation in Nov 2012, we posted a SAMPLE package file for v9.2 which was based on the research we did to build the detection logic for that product. v9.2 (Nov 2010) is still the current release, so I would suggest grabbing that sample package as a starting point.
Two other products that were handled in this same manner are ImgBurn v2.5.7.0 and Notepad++ 6.2 (subsequently we started packaging Notepad++ in the actual catalog and v6.5.1 was released on Monday)
ding The packages are coming in with different naming conventions as they used to and d/l locations are failing on some. If the new team could please use the way its always been done and leave off the "copy of" so I know whats from solarwinds and what I have created please?
Heh... I stand corrected - when i go back and review the sync details in Software Publishing, the sync i got on 7/28 did include 7-Zip 9.20. I'm not sure (yet) if that was a one-off thing or if it will become a regularly supported application.
Why is flash now trying to download through the software? Previously I had to go out and download from Adobe and import. Now it's trying to download from solarwinds and it's not working...
RE: the Adobe Flash package(s): Try synchronizing (under Software Publishing) again now; the packages should have been updated.
What the heck is going on over there?
Yeah, mine is showing the same Adobe packages being revised 5 days in a row. Been out of the office for a week and I see new packages are still trickling out at a snail's pace.
Im not even going to look at third party updates until the new guys get their act together. After seeing whats coming out in the last week or so its just a mess and ill wait until they know what they are doing, or patch stuff with another tool like PDQ for a bit.
Regarding Adobe Acrobat Reader. PM has the base installer for 11.x published and then you can push the updates for that platform as they are released. However, we are looking to move to Acrobat Reader DC (Classic Track) and I do not see the base installer. Anyway, you guys can put this in the catalog? For now I will have to push it out the old way (prior to PM) and rely on PM to apply the DC updates.
Also, I made a suggestion to differentiate the Adobe DC Classic vs Continuous tracks. Would be nice if they were labeled as such. As of now, I have to go to Adobe's site to see which update applies to what.
Itunes 12.4.3 is released . Will an updated package be available soon ?
7-Zip wasn't officially supported, but it is now! It was my understanding that we had some issues with the older versions.
Here is what I see inside Patch Manager. Will the new versions become available soon?
Yes! These are being uploaded now:
7-Zip 16.02 (x86)
7-Zip 16.02 (x86) (Upgrade)
7-Zip 16.02 (x64) (Upgrade)
7-Zip 16.02 (x64)
Sweet!!!
We were working out some kinks, but I think we have it all under control now. Let me know if you're seeing otherwise.
Any chance of an updated package for Google Earth? New version 7.1.7.2600 is out and I see there's been no new package for it from SolarWinds since 11/04/13.
With the latest release of Google Chrome, will there be a Business Enterprise MSI released for version 53.0.2785.89? I see the EXE available, but not the MSI.
Yep, I'm waiting for the Business Enterprise .MSI versions too.
hdwrguy and stcain, we will grab it when Google releases it. Per their release notes, " This will roll out over the coming days/weeks (Note: MSI still points to M52 and will be updated later)."
They just released another new version, 53.0.2785.101 and the MSI correctly points to that release.
stcain is correct. Even though the Business Enterprise MSI has been deployed, our IT group has permissions to update Chrome whenever, so if you do that you get upgraded to 53.0.2785.101. We now need PM to have this in the catalog so we can deploy this to all of our users.
hdwrguy and stcain, it was added today!
Thank you for the new Business Enterprise MSI for Google Chrome. Any idea when PM will have the latest version (23.0.0.162) of Adobe Flash Player available?
Chrome has already been updated again, 53.0.2785.113 is out now.
Just wondering when we will see some of the new packages available. Google Chrome, Adobe Flash player, etc. I know you guys are still transitioning, etc but we have become somewhat dependent on SolarWinds PM and I really don't want to go back to the old way of deploying app upgrades.
Both are in progress now!
Will this page be updated any longer? I have been seeing updates within PM when I logon, but I used to be able to get an email that reflected the updates shown on this page and I knew something was available.
Still waiting for that Google Earth update. And 7-Zip 16.04 was just released.
You should be seeing the update for 7-Zip 16.04 in the next day or so. As for Google Earth, the vendor has changed the installer and It is not possible to silent install with switches, which not work from Google Earth 7.1.4 +. It is, however, possible to create the package without direct download, but with install instructions. We're looking into this....
I've taken over the responsibility of updating the page and was doing it on a weekly basis, but I will make sure to update as they come!
I see updates for Adobe Acrobat DC Classic (15.006.30243) but where is the same update for Adobe Reader DC Classic? Also, need the latest update for Adobe Acrobat DC Continuous track. And to also add that Adobe has released a new version of Flash Player (23.0.0.185) that has also not shown up in PM.
I would appreciate any updates to these new versions. Thank you.
Trying to download and publish the new Google Chrome MSI. I am getting this error. Any ideas?
You can get Chrome from the link that a user provided in this thread below. I hope that solarwinds will put out a revised update with the correct download today though. This is a pretty basic thing for solarwinds to screw up on but historically its fixed quickly.
Google Chrome 54.0.2840.59 Business Enterprise MSI (Upgrade) with incorrect download location in catalog
The revised update has been uploaded now!
This has now been fixed and published!
Thank you for fixing the issue with the Google Chrome MSI. I mentioned some Adobe issues as well. Any idea when Adobe DC Reader and Adobe Acrobat DC (Continuous track) updates will be released?
Is it not this one from 10/1 you are looking for?
I have the Acrobat DC Update for Classic already (15.006.30243) but I am missing the update for Acrobat DC Continuous track. Current version is 15.017.20053.
Also, the Acrobat Reader DC (15.006.30243) Is still not showing up in my console within PM. I will try to manually force the download.
Hello. Is anyone having issues with Adobe Flash Player Distribution? You used to be able to download the latest versions from one page, but now you have to apply for a distribution license. I did this, but have not heard back from Adobe yet.
Megan, i'm new here, but I did have to apply for a distribution license. Especially since we are using an older version of Adobe Reader (XI). They will eventually get back to you within a day or two.
I have been hearing from a patch management mailing list that people are waiting weeks due to the huge volume of requests. They do get back to you, it just takes time.
Thank you for your reply.
Thank you for letting me know. At least I know it's not just me.
Any idea when the new version of Apple iTunes will be published? Should be version 12.5.3.
Anyone seeing this issue for downloading flash player catalog?
Adobe Flash Player Catalog with error Unable to download catalog. The file with URI: https://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/ could not be downloaded. Reason: Unable to find the directory for the download.
Any idea when and if the new version of the VLC Media Player will be published? New version is 2.2.4.
2.2.4 has been out since June
I don't seem to have it in the catalog.....
Just to check our configs are the same, I have VLC checked under the Solarwinds Update (Nofitications Only) Catalog
I have nothing checked under the Solarwinds Update Catalog
Thanx man. I went back and double checked my settings for third party updates. I 'assumed' since I saw VLC 2.1.6 that I should have the new stuff as well. I added VLC and now have version 2.2.4 available. That is what happens when you assume things, but I appreciate your help. : )
Are there any packages available to deploy the Chrome browser flash player plugin, a.k.a PPAPI? I don't seem to see the option to download it into PM.
We need this too, consistently having Flash update issues with Chrome since v54 was released. I know SEP causes some of the issues but have seen non-SEP related problems with it also. Guess I'll have to build my own PPAPI packages for now.
Any idea on when we can expect the MSI version(s) of Flash Player 24.0.0.194?
Thanks!
Yes, what gfraetis just said. Really need the MSI version of the Flash Player 24.0.0.194.
Garrett and hdwrguy, Adobe had changed their links which ultimately required us to talk to Adobe and verify our distribution license with them. This has all been resolved and the package has been published now.
Thank you, I see it has been published. However, when I try to download it, it doesn't seem to download or prompt me for the existing MSI. It stays stuck at 93 kb.....The same thing happens for the plugin.
I did verify by trying to download other Adobe products and they work fine.
Hmmmm... let me look into this. Checking with dev....
@ding I can say that this happened to us as well. I was able to download manually then add by double clicking the update, clicking next then checking the radial that I already have the content.
jsweg04 that worked. However, it should prompt you to provide the location of the download as soon as you right click on it to download content. At least this is a valid work around. Thank you!!
No problem, glad to help!
I have not seen any "adobe reader" upgrade packages for a long time.
Still being supported ?
They have not kept up with updating this post but here is the reader (and acrobat) updates that I have just for the month of January this year that are in patch manager.
SolarWinds doesn't track the upgrade versions of Adobe Reader & Adobe Acrobat on this page because those packages aren't created by SolarWinds - they come directly from Adobe.
Visually, in the Software Publishing folder list section of Patch Manager, when it comes to Adobe stuff it is not super-intuitive on what folder contains what packages, but under Software Publishing there are usually two folders:
Basically, if Adobe provides it in their own catalog, SolarWinds doesn't duplicate that package since that would get even more confusing really quickly. Generally though - if you're not seeing what you're looking for in one of those folders, look for it in the other.
If you aren't seeing the most recent Adobe Reader upgrade packages, make sure that you have the software 'checked' in the catalog list (right-click Software Publishing -> Syncronization Settings -> Subscriptions tab) and that you have it set to periodically sync the catalogs; that option is in that same Synchronization Settings dialog on the first tab (Synchronization).
Is there a PM release date for the new Google Chrome browser, version 56.0.2924.76?
Can we get an ETA for the new release of Apple iTunes? Version 12.5.5.
Error in Google Chrome v56.0.2924.76 MSI packages?
Under the installed rule for x64 processors the Registry Key Exists rule has:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{6B7C23FA-B391-34BF-8E9D-20BD87CE2EF1}
When it should be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{6B7C23FA-B391-34BF-8E9D-20BD87CE2EF1}
Was wondering why it said it was still needed after I upgraded.
Did you successfully create any PPAPI packages? I am fairly new with creating them. Could you share your Applicability and Installed rules?
Flash Player v24.0.0.194 PPAPI MSI (Full version)
Flash Player v24.0.0.194 PPAPI MSI (Upgrade)
Thank you so much. However, regarding building packages, I have one newbie question. How do you add the 'When all of the following' as you have listed in your rules? Every time I try to add something, it just places it under the first header. I can change the operator to any or all, but not sure how to add a secondary heading.
Highlight which section (Choose "When any of the following" at the root to add a rule to the root) or choose another section's "When all of the following" or "When any of the following" for the section you want to add a new rule to and the "Add Rule" button should become available.
Well, I did that and can add rules. I just cannot add an additional 'When any' or 'When all' headers.
if you select a couple of those there should be an option to "Group" which will put them together into a sub group
stcain and kellytice
Thank you both. I watched a few videos from SW and this is exactly what I was missing. Thanx to both of you for helping me out!!!
Just an FYI..here is the article regarding Chrome Flash updates. I have found that if Chrome has been updated (to the current release) the PPAPI package will not install and when I check PepperFlash, it is already updated.
Changes to Flash in Chrome 54 and later - Chrome for business and education Help
I am going to see if this works as advertised.
SEP 12.1 and SEP 14 both have a bug in them that prevents Chrome from updating the PepperFlash sometimes. That's why I started pushing out the standalone PPAPI. SEP 14.0 MP1 is due out this month and fixes the issue. But Symantec will not be fixing the issue in SEP 12.1. See the last 2 comments in this thread from the Adobe forums. Chrome 54 and Flash PPAPI distribution issue |Adobe Community
Awesome, thanx for that article. Hopefully we will be moving to SEP 14 when it releases.
