I'm playing around with Dynamic grouping and am not able to do something that I think I should. Was going to do some grouping based on the Interface "description" or what I believe to be the "caption" in the database. Looks easy enough, do a Dynamic query where the "Orion Object" is "Interface" and the "Description" is what I want it to be. However, this doesn't work. If I hit the down arrow in the value field after choosing "Description", it gives me bridge, ds1, EthernetCsmacd, etc... Not what I was expecting. There is also an "Interface Type Description", but hitting down arrow gives me "Digital Signal Level 1", "Encapsulation Interface", "Ethernet", "Fast Ethernet", etc...
I'm not seeing any "Caption" besides "Node - Caption", which isn't what I want either. I've tried a few others that I thought might be it, no luck... So my first question would be, is there a field that would allow me to do a dyamic query based on the "interface description" or caption that I missed somewhere? With this being one of the few things you can customize on an interface basis, it would be quite useful!!
After hitting down arrow to see their values, both "Description" and "Interface Type Description" seem to be about the equivalent of each-other. Wouldn't it make sense to only have one of the two there? Seems a bit redundant...
