Hello,
Why i always get 'Identify Pending Windows Reboot' even the server already rebooted?
If you're consistently receiving a "Identify Pending Windows Reboot" message even after you've rebooted the server, there could be a few potential reasons for this issue:
Pending Updates: There may be pending updates that require a reboot to complete the installation process. In some cases, even after a reboot, the system may still recognize that updates are pending.
Failed Updates: It's possible that some updates failed to install correctly, leaving the system in a state where it believes a reboot is still necessary.
Registry Key Issue: The Windows Update registry keys may not be properly updated, causing the system to incorrectly identify a pending reboot.
Software or Services: Certain software or services on your server might not be properly handling the reboot process, which can lead to the system continuing to believe a reboot is required.
Group Policy or Configuration Issue: Group Policy settings or other system configurations could be causing the system to incorrectly identify a pending reboot.
Third-party Software Interference: Some third-party software or security tools may interfere with the reboot process and cause the system to incorrectly detect a pending reboot.
My Window start facing same issue, when I was reading article related to Wok cookware. Then to troubleshoot the issue I follow following steps:
Check for Pending Updates: Manually check for updates and ensure that all updates are installed correctly.
Review Update History: Check the update history to see if any updates have failed to install. If so, try re-installing them.
Clear Pending Update Flags: In some cases, you may need to manually clear the pending reboot flags in the Windows registry. This should be done cautiously and preferably with guidance from your IT department or a knowledgeable professional.
Check Event Logs: Review the event logs for any errors or warnings related to updates or reboots. This might provide more specific information about what's causing the issue.
Review Group Policy Settings: If your server is managed by a domain controller, review the group policy settings related to updates and reboots to ensure they are configured correctly.
Test in Safe Mode: Boot the server into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. This can help identify if third-party software is causing the problem.
Consult with IT Support: If you're unsure about any of these steps or if the issue persists, it's advisable to consult with your IT support team or a professional with expertise in Windows Server administration.
Hello! This is what SW's support provided me on this issue.
"Reboot pending" detection is done by checking the existence of any of the following registry keys: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\RebootPending HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\RebootRequired As you confirmed, these keys are not present in the operating system's registry, which triggers this warning. Please note, by instruction, we can`t troubleshoot anything outside of ORION. This warning has no functional impact and can safely be ignored. If you have any other questions or would like me to clarify anything else regarding this matter, please, let me know. I am always glad to help in any way I can.
