NPM - Polling Issues

I have observed the next poll and next rediscovery date and time is falling back but the database sync is good(up to date)in polling engines, because of this poling is not happening and there is no data for the nodes

Its happening on both main polling and additional polling engine.

I have rebuilt the jobengine file and collector file as per SolarWinds support documents. post rebuild couple of weeks it was good, again i got the same issue.

My platform is running on 2023.2.0

Kindly help on how we can fix this issue, also let me know is there any possibilities to create a alert for such secenarios.

Consider upgrading to 2023.3. There have been several updates for polling issues. Without looking into your specifics, this may help. link to current release notes: SolarWinds Platform 2023.3 Release Notes

Upgrading to 2023.3 is in, but also would like to know apart from upgrading any other possibilities to fix this ?
also is there any way to create the alert for such scenarios ?

That is a good question with several responses. If polling is off, but database checkin from the pollers is good, you are looking at potential issues with nodes. I will give a short overview here and try to paste in links from thwack later. Short overview is that you can have reports and even alerts if snmp or wmi is failing to update on one or more nodes. This will often show up as the dreaded grey status icon. Easiest method is to look at how many unknowns there are per polling engine. You should not have many issues getting node data per polling engine. So anything over 30 nodes with unknown detail status should be investigated. This number is arbitrary, as there always seem to be a couple nodes with known issues throwing off the count.

Additionally - IF you have SAM - apply the orion monitoring templates. Those are also helpful.

I still see the same issue after upgrading to 2023.3. All off a sudden node stop polling and have to restart the service to bring it back.

Any solution for this issue ?

I had similar issue in my last environment where all of a sudden polling engine stopped collecting any data for nodes and to make things worse the status of all elements remains up without any warning sign.

So, I created a report which basically checks the nodes against CPU data collected in last 30 mins and if not found it add the node in report. To avoid getting down nodes in the report, you can add another condition of status check.

This isn't an ideal solution but still better than waking up to no data all of a sudden!
