Hello all,
I am trying to figure out a way to collect information about an interface response times or packets loss to alert on. I will give you the situation so hopefully that helps out.
ISP 1 connects to breakout switch
breakout switch connects to firewall.
ISP 2 connects to breakout switch
breakout switch connects to firewall.
HCO is monitoring the firewall interfaces for both ISP's.
ISP 1 was having some issues with connectivity that we did not detect. Internet was steered to ISP 2 but there was no indication that ISP 1 was having issues since the physical connection never went down. The ISP 1 modem connected to the break out switch never went down so the interface was always up but the service was down. I could see that on the firewall itself. The response times and latency were through the roof when looking at the firewall management itself.
I opened a support case but they have come back and said that HCO doesn't monitor the interface itself rather the node so there is no metrics I can pull other than interface up or down to alert on. Since ISP 2 was fine the whole time I would think alerting on the node wouldn't help me. Support suggested that I post something here to see if the community has been able to accomplish this.
Thanks everyone.
