We upgraded our platform yesterday from 2023.1.1 to 2023.2.1 the upgrade went well, except for WPM.
We found an issue with WPM transactions flapping even though they were playing correctly within the recorder. Looking at the release notes for 2023.2.1 SolarWinds Platform 2023.2.1 Release Notes there are no known issues with WPM, if there were such reported issues we would not upgraded due to past experiences with the product and customer service. After our team fought this issue over a couple of hours, we took a look at the 2023.3 RC Release Notes. Looking over the Fixes for 2023.3 WPM 2023.3 RC Release Notes (solarwinds.com) we found there was a fix "WPM Transactions no longer go down during playback."
We decided against upgrading the entire platform to 2023.3 due to issue we experienced with the 2023.2 upgrade back in April which was a nightmare for about 15 days. We decided to download the 2023.3.0 RC1 ISO and extracted the WPM Player MSI and installed this version on a test box, we then added the test box as a new location, and moved transactions over to this test box and they were stable.
We then upgraded our 5 WPM players to 2023.3.0.1578. We left WPM on the main platform at 2023.2.1. Within minutes of upgrading the WPM players to 2023.3.0.1578 transactions stabilized within about 30 minutes all were up and stable.
I find it very frustrating that if there are known issues with a RC release, why isn't the 2023.2.1 and below documentation updated to reflect the findings within the new RC release?
