Discovery Question

I want to limit the discovery to a single /24 subnet. I've run the discovery by entering the network address and mask, a range of IP addresses, and listing each IP address in the subnet. Yet the results always return a bunch of devices that aren't on that subnet. How can I prevent this from happening?

I know I can exclude them from the map, but clicking 110+ boxes is a pain in the butt.

Hi Jason,

That's the behavior of NTM discovery. NTM goes out there and discovers everything related to the data entered into the Discovery Wizard. Filtering is the mechanism we have so you can hide nodes which are least interesting for you to display.

The other option, where you can exclude unwanted nodes being discovered is check the box, Under Discovery settings of your Discovery Scan wizard, which says "Ignore nodes that only respond to ICMP (Ping) If you still aren't satisfied, please share on what we could do better in our future releases.

If we want to limit the discovery to a single subnet, only show me devices from the specified subnet.

This seems reasonable request for our future releases. This begs a question on how would you want to represent end points to switch port mapping ? your ideas ?
