Solarwindorionlog (data file) is growing rapidly.

Hi,

I am observing that Solarwindorionlog (data file) is growing rapidly in last couple of days in our current version 2023.1.

SolarWindsOrion database size is 23 GB

SolarWindsOrionLog database size is 60 GB

I am trying to figure out what could be causing this sudden growth. Haven't seen SolarWindsOrionLog size will be greater than SolarWindsOrion database size.

P.S This is not about the transaction logs.

Please help if anyone has encountered this.

SolarWindsOrionLog, this is where the Syslog and Traps are stored right?

I believe yes.

There was a known issue about database maintenance for version 2023.1 which causes it not to finish it's nightly maintenance. You might want to look at that.

Other than that, you might want to check how many syslog and traps you are receiving per day and adjust the retentions settings.

Yes I confirmed that bug with support which says issue with nightly maintenance is getting finished but it has some white noise bug.

But how it relates to the SolarWindsOrionLog database? Can you please elaborate more?

Also I tried checking https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/orionplatform/content/release_notes/solarwinds_platform_2023-1-1_release_notes.htm article but didn't see anything related to SolarWindsOrionLog,
