How to monitor UPS

I am stuck. Trying to do two things to monitor UPS's.

1) Create a Device Type view for UPS nodes and assign them to the device types. I.E Vertive/Emerson, Tripplite, etc. But the Column Resources don't have an option to create new resources, and none of the existing resources address UPS properties.

2) Create a dashboard for all UPS's so I can see alerts I am looking for. Such as current alerts, battery age, etc.

I have created and assigned custom pollers. I have created an SWQL and can see the data. But I have not found a good how-to for doing 1 and 2 above.

Copy the default node view. Rename it something like Vertiv Details. You will need to add widgets based on the undp data. You can take the swql and create widgets like the radial dials or charts based on things like time on battery too. The swql that you use for the reports can be modified for the alerts. Universal Device Poller Status is one Out of the Box widget that get undp data for device on the details page. Add that to the view. I believe it will also list the last time data was polled - helpful when determining when the vertiv had its network config goes poof.

Too assign this view automatically: Go to all settings, the views by device type. You should see Veritiv/Emerson/Liebert in the list. Change the default view to the one you created. When SNMP is applied to the ups and device type detected, it should switch.

I guess I didn't explain myself very well. I did all that. I did copy the default and renamed it. You can't add any widgets to a classic layout. You can only choose from available resources, and those are all designed around servers and switches. OR is there another way to add?

Okay, I think I have it figured out now. First step is to copy the default node view and rename it. Then remove pretty much all the resources from the node view. Then I need to create a custom poller for each point I want to, at the end of the poller creation I am given an option to add an element to the node view. I can open the node with the view assigned and customize the labels, etc.

Yes - you edit that copy. I kind of follow what you are saying as this is the next step: You can assign as the default view for that type of device. When editing this copied (and renamed) dashboard, select Add Widgets and search for 'universal' and check the following ones. These should be some of the more useful:

universal device poller - Radial guage
universal device poller - Linear guage
Tabular universal device poller
universival device poller chart
universival device poller Custom chart
universival device poller status

You should be able to pick the undp metrics by name EMersonBatteryMinutesRemaining for example. You want the widgets that refer to single node or node details - some of the widgets are summary ones which gave WAAAAAAY more than you wanted.
