How do I not alert if a VDI host goes down without active user sessions?

Hi All,

We have a AVDI environment where VDI hosts power down automatically if there are no active RDP sessions. This is expected behavior and we do not need to be alerted when this happens.

I would like to be able to build an alert that only triggers if a host powers or shuts down with active RDP sessions \ Users, as this is something we need to be alerted on.

Has anyone have any knowledge on how to build this alert?

You probably want an event-based thing. I imagine the "shutdown" event for this is noticeably different somehow to that of a crash or whatever.

If not that, you can have a datasource that tracks the RDP sessions, and your ping status, you could alert when sessions>0 and ping=down in advanced conditions or custom SWQL. The issue with that would be the speed of data updates between the two. If the powerdown would occur within 2 minutes of hitting 0, you probably want a 1 minute frequency for the sessions datasource.

You can pull sessions for RDP from a performance counter, I dunno what AVDI refers to though, so if it's horizon or something it's a different metric.
