this is not a SMS gateway service eg. 12345@text.com. but a physical USB modem plugged into the USB port on my main poller server. how do I integerate this physical device with Solarwinds, in order to send text message, alerts.

How would you do it without Orion? Orion may be able to execute commands to trigger other products, but doesn't have SMS messaging software built in.
@jm_sysadmin firstly thank you for responding, I may need to give more details, as this may become an issue for most people. I have a host server that is connected to my SMS modem, and Solarwinds is on a VM on this host. Cant find any method of pass-through for the modem COM port. Some say its not supported. can you help. Once this is fixed then I can installed Notepager Pro or Pagegate as a service on windows.

Once you get your device present SW can Execute an external program in the SolarWinds Platform, like @jm_sysadmin mentioned.
