How can we put multiple nodes in maintenance mode?

We have around 50 nodes which has to be put on maintenance mode. We frequently have to put these 50 servers on maintenance and every time I have to select each node and put a downtime.

Is there any way to create a template and add all these servers to that template so that whenever its required I can directly go and apply maintenance mode to that template.

You can use a script, for maintenance mode, and for muting.

Also a scheduling utility.

Use can also use the "manage enities" or "manage nodes" pages, just select the nodes and set the state to Maintenace mode

We wanted a solution from the console itself. We have few challenges in running the script.

You can do a max of 250 nodes at a time from node management. I also have thousands of nodes and went the script route.

The scheduling utility is UI based, any easier to manage?

You can use select all, but at that volume it pays to be good at scripting

I make use of groups and custom attributes to do the same thing. Here's an example of how we do ours:

Custom Property: Patching_Group

Values: Blue, Pink, Orange, etc

Each node has a value assigned, but you could also have any property name / value system you want to use

Then, in Manage Nodes, I change the filter to the Patching Group

Then, I can simply select all nodes with that property and unmanage them all. It's an easy way from inside of the GUI for anybody with SW access to unmanage the nodes needed for the particular patching group.
