SolarWinds Alerts Triggering or not

How do we evaluate SolarWinds Alerts Triggered or now, do we have a mechanism to track. I encountered few issues twice Alerts stopped triggering in SolarWinds, after restarting service then alerts started firing.

Is it possible to create a Python/PowerShell/API external script to check Alerts are firing or not?

I posted a similar question not long ago. A heartbeat alert seems like it's worked well for people

(trigger every x min, auto-close, raise alarm from ticketing system if it's not received)

There could be several ways to detect this, but then if you want to check if alert is working or not use an additional action on your trigger actions in the alert (very old way of tracking it but still effective), along with the trigger actions that you have add another Action 'Log the alert to the NetPerfMon Event log', this will log an event within SolarWinds, you can use this on both trigger actions and reset actions. You can track your alerts using this mechanism - or use this for audit / or other reasons as such.

@vinay.by and @adam.beedall - I agree on the simple additional action. In many cases I get a cc'd (separate email address for this) on most alerts. I also have a daily alert that resets itself which sends email and page at a given time. The trigger is something like - is the main poller on line? I use scheduling to keep it quiet. Between the two actions I get a pretty good sense of alerting.

Otherwise, it will always be a question of "who watches the watchers?"
