BMC CMDB data to solarwinds Orion (ipam)

Hi All

is it possible to import / integrate data from a BMC CMDB over to Solarwinds, as i'm fairly new with solarwinds and has been tasked to populate the data from cbdm to solarwinds, to identify / add more details onto the devices which are already listed in our IPAM. and also, we may also be having NPM is the near future.
i've read that it is possible that solarwinds data be exported to the CMDB via the SDK tools and scripting. however now i would like to do it the other way round, whereby the data is being fetched from a CMDB instead. If so, how can i go about it? all your responses are very much appreciated.

Conceptually, it's like what you have read about sending data the other way. 

First identify the fields that you want from a CMDB CI to go to a record for a IP or subnet in IPAM. In IPAM, then create the custom property to hold the BMC data in the 'Manage custom properties' page. 'IP' node is the record for an IP, the subnet, supernet or folder would be in 'IPAM group nodes'. 

At this point I can't tell you how to get data out of BMC, but if you end up with a .csv file you can use that to map to the fields and use the import function. To get the right format, maybe export the empty IPAM data to see what its looking for. 

If you want something scriptable, you can use the API to get it done. Most people with Orion modules set the properties on the nodes, not the IPAM IP since its used more places in the tool, but if you only have IPAM, its certainly available.
