Add a Description to orion.sites

Greetings all.

Reporting - field selection under 'Advanced Selector' a section for Orion Sites. A field exists with the name "Description" which is blank. Looking at it in SWQL studio the Description field appears as an inherited property under Orion.Sites.

Does anyone know of a way to add text to the Description field?

Use case: my company runs multiple Solarwinds instances with some overlap in monitored objects. It would be nice to add a report field for Site with "Orion-West", "Orion-East", etc. so people will know what system the information comes from (I know this can be added as a report label but I would rather have something pulled from the database).

Why are you trying to use 'Description' field from 'Orion Site' when 'Site Hostname' provides the polling engine name ?

If you are preferred way is not to show the polling engine name and you want something generic like 'Orion-West' I have another way to achieve this, create a custom attribute and get that auto populated with this value 'Orion-West'. You can set up an alert to auto populate this custom attribute once in a hour or 30 mins. All devices in your environment will have this value set and you can use the custom property on any report.

Hope this helps.

Could edit the table with database manager. No idea if that causes a problem though.

These are great suggestions. I'm going to verify answer by vinay.by .

For now I'm going to hand jam the system name as a label in reports. I know in the EOC tool it's fairly easy to identify site name in reports. I just got word that my current employer plans to purchase EOC in the near future.
