Thin AP Alerts - Down Switches

We're trying to find a way to prevent multiple alerts from being sent when the switch that the thin APs are connected to goes down. I have looked into create a dependency but as far as I can tell, thin aps aren't able to have parent dependencies other than the wireless controller. I tried finding a way to add a condition to the alert to only alert when the switch is "up". 

We are a school district with multiple sites and many APs per location. When a site goes down (router or multiple switches), multiple alerts are generated and flood our inbox. Wondering how others have configured their alerts to help with this issue, thank you!

I think all of us are in the same boat but the end user wants us to know when APs go down, so they ultimately have more "importance" than a switch. Even though logically you/I care more about the switch.

So we have custom properties and one such is Priority2 / 3 / 4 / etc and we have APs on a different level to switches. The lower the level, the shorter the time to recognise a failure. So for e.g we might set a switch to a P2 which might be set at 2m down before alerting, whereas an AP is a P3 and is on a 5m down before alerting.
