Feature Request: Need resource description added to Component Details resource

I would like to be able to add a description of the function of a component monitor to the Component Details resource on the APM web page. This could either be a manual description entered by the user, or perhaps be pulled from some standardized location or both.

For example, I might want to be able to see the units of time that the File Change monitor uses.

Hello borgan,
you can't assign custom description to component but you can have custom units for it, at least on gauges. Click on "Edit" button on "Component Statistics" gauge resource and there you can set custom units that will be displayed on the gauge. This feature is available since APM 3.5.

Thanks, Jiri. I see what you are saying, but that does not help me because I am unable to assign specific units to multiple instances of the Component Statistics gauge resource.

For instance, I have an application consisting of the File Change, File Existence, File Age and File Size components. The units for those are hours, none, hours and bytes respectively. If I edit the File Change monitor and set the Units to "hours", the units are set to hours for all the other components as well. I cannot set the units for File Sixe to "bytes" at the same time.

Am I missing something?

borgan, APM 4.2 added the ability to include User defined notes and a description to each component within an application template as seen below.
