Installing with a computer account - effect on permissions??

Question

I am about to embark on a new install of 2023.1 and I have a question about permissions.

We do not use SQL authentication, so we will be using Windows for the SQL server. Since using a domain user account is not supported, we want to use a computer account. I seem to remember that a number of the required permissions are mapped to the NETWORK_USER account. Will those permission mappings need to be changed to use the designated computer account? If so, how can that be done, and will it work with SolarWinds Orion?

I am not a Windows administrator, so please excuse me if I have used incorrect terminology. I appreciate any guidance.

Hi,

You can use a domain account (use a dedicated service account e.g. domain\SWDBUser) for Orion SQL user. Create the account in the domain, then add it into SQL and provide it with SysAdmin rights so that during the installation it will be able to create the databases.
