SNMPv3 Traps

I am trying to receive SNMPv3 traps from Eaton UPS's (Merlin Gerin). The node is configure to use SNMP v3 Auth Priv and successfully connects in Solarwinds. If traps are set to send via SNMP v1 the traps are recieved in log viewer. If it set to SNMPv3 it is not recieved. I can see the v3 traps arriving using wireshark. What else would i need to configure to have these recieved?

Shouldn't be, see here - Monitor SNMP traps (solarwinds.com). Per that page,

When you use SNMPv3 for polling a device and receive traps from it, confirm that the same authentication type (auth, noauth, or priv) is configured for both polling and traps.

Are you saying that you can't (or shouldn't) receive SNMPv1 or v2 trap when polling using v3? or simply that if you receive v3 Traps they should be using the same credential set as SNMPv3 polling? If it's the latter, I would understand but the first scenario is a big no-no for us, to a point where SolarWinds would not be the right product anymore...

When you use SNMPv3 for polling a device and receive traps from it, confirm that the same authentication type (auth, noauth, or priv) is configured for both polling and traps.

But then from what i understand even though you are polling the device via SNMP V3 you can still receive traps from the older SNMP Versions but if you want to receive V3 traps the article states it should have the same authentication type as polling. (Not really sure why though)
