How to monitor a serial connection?

Hi all,

I have a few PCs that have agents deployed to them for monitoring.  They run Windows 10 OS and have serial (COM Port) connections to some additional hardware devices which processes cash.

I would like to monitor the serial / com port connections from the Windows PC to the devices and wonder how best to achieve this? Can this be in Solarwinds out of the box or is a custom script of sorts required to test connectivity and report based on the output?
