Netpath Monitor and AS140927 (SKY MOVIE PHILIPPINES CATV)

Hi,

When I create a Network path that goes though our AWS Direct Connect from on-premise it passes through a link with a 169.254.x.x address.

Rather than seeing this network as a link local block as described in RFC3927, Solarwinds labels it as AS140927 (SKY MOVIE PHILIPPINES CATV)

How can I fix this ?

Bruce, let's go ahead and open a ticket with support. I exchanged notes with engineering on this item and they indicated the following.

BGP info is stored in table dbo.NetPath_Networks and cache. BGP table contains the autonomous system the node belongs to, the network address block, and the contact information associated with it.

To be sure they have checked stat.ripe.net API that we use to get ASN and CIDR info for random IP addresses for range 169.254.x.x. and they return no ASN or CIDR as they are from reserved local network. Also I can’t see any connection to AS140927 (SKY MOVIE PHILIPPINES CATV) which is 103.152.216.0/23.

We would have to check DB records what is mapping to those addresses and NetPath BGP logs.

Thanks for your reply. I need to do an upgrade on the system so that may fix the issue.

Did you guys get a resolution this? I'm seeing the same thing on my NetPath.

No, I started a ticket and then got swamped with other more urgent things.

It's just an annoying bug, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one affected. When I get some spare time I'll open another ticket.
