Alerts Trigger Unresponsive

Question

Hello Guys,

Am running NPM 2020.2.5 on windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL 2004 on Separate Server for DB.

Recently this year the NPM is misbehaving, example  when the Node goes down, on NPM Web the Node is still showing Green, But when you click it and check on Node down , it shows it had gone down.

so for this scenario am not able to receive email alerts at all when that happens, or they are being sent after being down for several hours.

When i tried to restart Orion service the trigger mechanism start to work at that time correctly and then after few minutes it start misbehaving again.

Both NPM & DB Server the memory and CPU is okay, below 50% , it can hardly goes up to 70%.

Kindly advise what is causing this, or any info you need from me to help resolving the issue.

I would recommend to follow the system requirements first as that will be the first thing they will review.

I would suggest at least to upgrade to SQL Server 2016 SP1 or SP2, but why not to at least SQL Server 2019 ?

Otherwise, check your daily database maintenance logs to find abnormal events or try running CW to fix the database.

You might want to open a support case on this.
When I have had issues with alerts in the past I usually have to restart the alerting service to bring it back (or a reboot of the host).
The root cause was usually db fail-over if your using a cluster.

Might want to check out the requirements doc for your version.  I don't think SQL 2004 is within spec, link to SQL database.
