WMI is the preferred polling method because some node data, such as disk I/O, is only available via WMI.

WinRM is the default transport method to collect data for WMI-based component monitors.

All AppInsight templates support the SolarWinds Platform agent for Windows. See Monitor with SolarWinds Platform agents in SAM.

If security is your worry then I would recommend using the SolarWinds agent to monitor the device with AppInsight.

Yah, security is what I assumed too, I saw ADC in the name and assume they don't want to grant Admin right to everything, which I respect. Agents are absolutely the way to go for that situation.
