I planned to upgrade Orion 2020.6 to SolarWInds Platform 2022.4 yesteday. I was very surprised that the online installer brought me platform 2023.1 RC1 as the only option. So I have RC in my production environment!
Really? Is that the way it works?
@JaroslawLadyga, sadly the upgrade feature does not have any feature to define which branch you want to install, and in order to do an intermediate upgrade you have to get the installers from the customer portal. did you in fact install the RC in your prod environment?
You would need to grab the Offline installer for the 2022.4 GA version. I ran a dev install and noticed it was 2023 also. AND I had some bizarre issues. Ugh.
I downloaded 2022.4 GA version from Customer Portal but then installer gave 2023.1 RC as latest version. Installation went with some issues indeed but without option to go to 2022.4. So my guess is that the only correct procedure would have been to install 2022.4 offline version. But it's to late now. 2023.1 RC works without issues yet, so will wait for what will come
Although 2023.1 is currently an RC, for some customers it may appear as a GA in the product catalog and inside the product on the Updates page. You’re welcome to upgrade from the Updates page, but you are upgrading to the RC version of 2023.1. The GA version is planned for release in a few weeks. If you upgraded to 2023.1 RC. the updates page will show another 2023.1 release once the GA version is available.
I'm interested to hear your experiences of this RC. You say no issues "yet" or is it just you haven't spotted any
Hi, We upgraded from 2020.2.6 to 2023.1.0 RC 1 and have had a few issues.
When I un-manage an application it fails with an error. The un-manage works, but does not log an event. The re-manage works without error.
We also use Patch Manager and upgraded it to the latest 2022.4 build, now the Orion integration does not work. There is a new port 54092 unsecured, 54093 secured. I could not get it to work over the secured port.
I now also see login errors in the SQL ERROR.LOG file from the MPE $Machine account since the upgrade.
I have tickets open for PM and Orion issues, still waiting for a fix.
