I want to monitor a URL which is hosted in the Linux box
Can i make use of HTTP monitor template and achieve this.
Please advise.
If you just want to check if your website URL is responding, then the answer is "yes". HTTP and HTTPS monitor components are designed to check websites from your monitoring location. If you use agentless polling method (ICMP or SNMP) for your Linux server, then you just need to make sure that the website URL is reachable from your SolarWinds polling engine server. If you use Linux agent on your server, then the website URL will be checked by the agent service running on your Linux server.
This support article explains how to configure it: https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/How-to-Setup-HTTP-HTTPS-Monitor-in-SAM?language=en_US
Hi @ecmel
Thank you so much for your response.
Linux server is agent based and we need to monitor the URL which is like as below
http://serverIP:port number/login
Note : I’m not able to access the URL through normal PC.
I tried adding the URL and assigned the monitor against the node.
but receiving error while testing as Unable to connect to the server.
we just want to check if the site is reachable if not an alert setup.
please provide your inputs
We already have agent setup against the linux server but still the URL says down and testing gets an error unable to login to remote server.
Hi @vandu
Could you please confirm that the preferred polling method is selected as "Agent" in application edit page?
If so, you can enable debug mode on the same edit page in order to collect debug logs in "/opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/appdata/Logs" folder. These logs may provide more details on the root cause of the problem.
It is working now.
Can you help me with one query - I have multiple URL"s hosted on multiple linux servers so do i need to create a separate template and assign each node
