best practice and design for solarwind Products

Hi,

i have the following solarwind product licenses , which i am planning to deploy in fresh environment, would you give recommendations for designing the infra for the same (servers , )

Products

1.NPM SL250

2.NTA SL250

3.NCM DL00

4.IPAM 1024IP

5.UDT UT2500

6.LA -LA100

7.SAM AL150

8.VMAN VM32

1. is it recommended to install all the module in a single application server and have a different server for to host sql for all, please help me the best practice to follow for the application server and sql server and sizing.

It totally depends on how you would like to see it, in your environment.

But best part about SolarWinds is you can have all of these modules stitched together to work as a single unit, i would prefer to install all of them on a single instance together, as you have an advantage of correlating things and seeing them together. But then this is totally upto you.

Since you have a limited licensing for all modules i wouldnt see this as an issue either, it would relatively be a small environment.

Go through the SQL Server guidelines though before you plan for the same.

Firstly, yes thats the best option to separate your SQL Server out from your application Server no matter a small or a big environment.

You will need 3 separate SQL databases - one for SolarWindsOrion as a whole, second one for LA and the third one for your NTA.

Even though its a small environment I would suggest you to go with a medium deployment hardware requirements, it would be much easier in case you are upgrading it in future. Hope this helps.
