Has anyone or could someone create a monitor that would alert on SQL blocking?
I am not sure how to do this but would help in anyway on creating this. We currently use spotlight on SQL and want to move away from that if possible.
Thanks in advance.
This is what MS says about blocking http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271509
You could you the script they provide as a stored procedure and a SQL user experience monitor in APM to do this monitoring.
Thanks Denny for the article link but I am sorry to say I think that is beyond my skill set in setting that up to check for SQL block on a database let alone hundreds of databases.
I guess I was looking for someone who has set this up or if those at Solarwinds would be so kind to create a template for this and make it available in the DLC area. The environment that I am in this is a huge issue for our DBA's and without able to check for sql blocking on a database our DBA's will not get rid of Spotlight on SQL or use Solarwinds for any type of SQL monitoring.
Still looking for a solution to SQL blocking monitoring
