Orion 2020.2.6 HF Application - Administration Service Message

I'm looking to apply hotfixes to my Orion 2020.2.6 platform but we're not yet looking to upgrade to 2022.4. When checking on the centralized upgrades page, this warning appears:

A new version of the SolarWinds Administration service is ready to install.
When you install this version, you will only be able to upgrade your environment to products built on SolarWinds Platform 2022.2 and later.

It appears I should still be able to simply apply the hotfixes and not go past the point of no return as long as I don't click the "Start the upgrade" link in the warning box. Is that correct? Has anyone had issues going this route or should it be straightforward and leave me the opportunity to get to 2022.4 at a future date?

Can I ask why you wouldn't you upgrade it, as long as you have app and db backups you will be able to go back but I would generally fix forward with SolarWinds. Would upgrade to 2022.4.1 though as the ones in between have not been great

I highly recommend NOT going to 2022.4.1. 2020.2.6 was solid compared to the 2022.4.x betas (so many bugs) we are now on. Did you open a support case? I have upgraded the Admin service before and not applied the HF/patch yet as it's needed to stage the files for a central upgrade, but I don't recall that specific warning.

The reason why is basically what @msites said. 2020.2.6 has been solid for us, so until the more "modern" releases get more acceptance in the community (and by their nature, become less buggy and more stable), we're interested in keeping current on what we have for the time being. I've not wanted to get boxed into a corner being forced to go to to something new against my will if I can avoid it.
