Unable to monitor individual cards/modules of physical Cisco Nexus 7000s switches

We have a Cisco Nexus 7000 and monitor the hardware on it in NPM.
However it cannot detect and monitor the hardware in the slots (modules). This feature is not included in Orion.

TAC advised us to use a Universal Device Poller and to reference:

so I did a MIB walk of Private and Standard.

This one of the modules in our 7000

NAME: "Slot 1", DESCR: "Supervisor Module-2"
PID: N7K-SUP2 , VID: V04 , SN: JAFXXXXXXX

I did a MIB walk of Private and Standard.
I can find "Supervisor Module-2" in the walk so I know it exists.

I would like to see the status of the module, e.g, Up / Down / Removed

Anyone have any suggestions?

We've not actually done this for any of our Nexus kit (let alone a 7k), but I suspect the way forward is that you would need to build a UnDP for the OID.

Having just looked. the first hurdle you are going to hit is that this OID results in a table in our system, and I personally have never had any success in creating a UnDP where a table is returned. So for me, I would be looking for a specific OID that just returns the module you are interested in, and then I would cerate the UnDP and build an alert around that.

Yes, I have done the MIB walk, trying to find something descriptive that identifies the modules/cards.

@rhether, I have not come across this before. Outside of creating a custom Universal Device Poller (UnDP), you might consider sending Traps instead. There should be hardware related traps that you could send from the Nexus 7k's and then alert based on what is received.
