Monitor application from outside

Hi,

Is it possible to monitor the accessibility of node/application from external by Orion? Eg from some agent installed on Internet? My node/application stands in DMZ and I would like to monitor its availability on the Internet.

There are a number of options available here, depending on the application you wish to monitor:

Web Performance Monitor module (for web application)
1. You can install an agent 'player', which will act as the source of the web page testing, which you can place outside your network
2. You can leverage the Pingdom service to act as the hosted source
Server & Application Monitor module
1. Using Agent based polling, configure the appropriate monitoring function in SAM for the agent to perform polling.

Orion Remote Collectors
1. Depending on your licensing, you can deploy an ORC, which is essentially a distributed lightweight polling engine based on the standard end point Orion agent

Voice & Network Quality Manager
1. The use of the Cisco IP SLA or Juniper RPM protocol to configure supported device types from these vendors to perform remote user experience tests, for which Orion simply collects the results

Application monitoring can be accomplished by dedicated tools to monitor apps, or by collecting and analyzing logs using log management tools. With application monitoring, the end goal is to maximize availability and give customers the best experience.

Thank for reply. I tried option 3, but it can be installed only on windows machine, my remote host is linux. Regarding to option 1a, how can I use an agent to monitor the external node?
