There is a locked discussion about changing the polling engine for agents configured in active mode.
The thread ends with a video showing that it is possible. Case closed!! Wrong!
Can you please remake the video & after "moving" the active agents, try to "List resources" on them.
You will find that it doesn't work because, as somebody mentioned in the original thread, the poller config is only updated in the database.
The agent config on the target node is not updated. So the agent is still trying to talk to the original poller.
So what happens is, less than an hour after the change, the agents all revert back to the original poller (assuming it still exists).
I have tried this many times & the result is always the same.
Can somebody in Solarwinds please fix this & test it fully. Currently the only way we have to move agents in bulk it to uninstall & reinstall the agents, which is crazy!
We are currently running 2020.2.6 HF4 and the problem exists in this version. I'll try it again after we upgrade to 2022.3
