ORION and AP alerts

hey everyone, i am new to this community, it's my first time working on ORION and i would like your help.

here's the context:

we have bunch of sites, their routers/switches are already supervised by ORION and we have several WIFI controlers added to ORION but no AP, AP are not added to ORION.

my question is that iwhen an AP is down, is there a way to get the alert and map on a dashboard ?

if yes , does this involve SWQL ?

how can i create a widget that will display for each site the number of down AP ?

would you please confirm to me this info: i can get the status (alert) of an AP even if the AP is not added to ORION instance ?

Do you mean you don't intend to add the AP as a node? Because that is the norm. You really do not have to add the AP as a node unless you want to add it as a node via ICMP.

You monitor APs by monitoring the WLC. If it's Meraki, check the link below.

The project manager (Not a technical persone) emphasises the fact to add the AP into ORION but the enginners refused that due the high number of nodes to monitor and adding the AP will impact extremely the performances of ORION.

that's the reason why i was thining that if we can provide the AP status through the controler that would be great solution, but i wanted to be sure before discussing this idea with my collegue.

the WIFI controlers are monitored through ORION.
