API For Jira Incident Management

Hi All - currently using Service now for Incident Management and works great with the snow api into solarwinds for service incidents widget on classic dashboards, is there an api for Jira service management or can the service incidents been utilised for jira rather than snow

Can you go a little deeper on the workflow? I want to make sure we can answer your inquiry properly.

If I'm reading things correctly (and admittedly, I may not be), then you have SolarWinds --> SNOW currently.

But what you want is SolarWinds --> Jira instead?

There isn't an OOTB integration, but it can be done with a script (and your scripting engine of choice). The process looks something like this:

Thing happens that needs causes a trigger.
The action of the alert runs a script with some variables and pushes that JSON to the Jira endpoint (with some type of credentials).
The Jira API call returns a Jira incident number.
The script take that incident number and updates something (normally puts a note in the Alert's notes or something else)
If the alert resets, the action runs a script, finds that incident number and changes the status of the incident to "Resolved," "Closed", or "Whatever you want to use."

Note: I am not a "Jira" guy. I only know enough about the API to provide general instructions, but I'm sure there are more capable people here.

If you think this should be an OOTB integration, then either vote up an existing Feature Request or create your own to get the community to vote on it.

I'd been struggling with this and finally I was able to create an integration between Solarwinds and Jira, the trigger action is a custom script that I created and gets executed when an alert is fired up. It gets a number of parameters and contact Jira passing these parameters and then created a ticket with the required data for my use case.

If you need more details we can talk about it and I'll give you extra details for sure.
