I have recently upgraded my Test Orion instance from 2020.2.5 to 2020.2.6 (latest HFs).
The test instance is an Express Install, with SQL Express on the same server as Orion.
The server is reasonably spec'd, 4 cores, 24GB Ram, Disk is SSD (using the HPE SimpliVity Hyper Converged Infrastructure).
Since the upgrade, the following OOTB Alerts have been triggered.
(1) ALERT: Node MyServeris Warning.
Child entities with problems:
Microsoft IIS (AppInsight for IIS: Application in Down state)
(2) The application Microsoft IIS on MyServer (IP) is currently in a state of "Down".
This application was last seen in an "Up" status on 9/5/2022 2:14:01 AM. The following is a list of components in this application presently in distress.
Sites(Down)
HTTP Bindings Monitor (SolarWinds NetPerfMon)(Down)
(3)Component HTTP Bindings Monitor (SolarWinds NetPerfMon) of Application "Microsoft IIS" on MyServer is currently in a state of "Down".
Click the link below for more information related to this component:
These are firing at 02:15 and clearing at 02:21. Not every day, but most days.
This is evidently related to the Orion IIS Application Pool restart at 02:15 daily (https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/The-IIS?language=en_US) so this is not totally unexpected.
Eventvwr indicates that there are also SQL tasks being run at the same time (DB Maintenance I presume).
I have been through the Orion & eventvwr logs myself and with our support partner and there is nothing obviously wrong.
I can hide these alerts by building a set of bespoke alerts with an alerting blackout for the restart (or change the condition must exist for period).
But. These alerts were not being fired prior to the upgrade, which possibly indicates that the restart activity is slower than it used to be.
Has anyone else come across this issue following the 2020.2.6 upgrade?
Does anyone have any suggestions or actions that they have taken to resolve this?
Thanks
Tim
